Self-Love. An Untold Journey

Lao Tzu’s words of wisdom to live by:

Watch your thoughts. They become your words.

Watch your words. They become your actions.

Watch your actions. They become your habits.

Watch your habits. They become your character.

Watch your character. It becomes your destiny.

I’ve always tried to live by these wise words. Powerful words of discernment would form my subconscious as I developed insecurities over my appearance.

At age 11, I became anorexic. I lived in a culture that was predominately focused on being thin. A culture that migrated from India to America where if you were not “fair and thin”, you were not beautiful.

What I did not realize, is that your body hears everything your mind says. If you consistently hate your body because you believe you are too fat, too thin, too short, too dark, or too light, you will ultimately lack self-love. The most freeing thing in the world is the idea that you can love and respect your body with all of its imperfections. After all, your body is a vessel that keeps your heart pumping, your lungs breathing, and your blood flowing through your veins.

We create a world where we compare ourselves to others. Be the shaper of your own thoughts and patterns. Once you let others impact your thoughts and actions, you have become a prisoner to the outside world. Imagine a universe where you are no longer impacted by the actions of others. This is the most freeing concept that most people never grasp.

Some people go through life and never find their soul path. They never reach their true destiny. They never reach a higher level of consciousness and follow a jaded journey guided by the actions of others. One scarring word, one insult, one argument, or simply a difference in beliefs, and they internalize their pain to create a world of self-hatred and despair.

One must create a god or godness mentality from within. This does not mean bowing down to someone. It means mastering the ability to no longer react to external triggers around you. In doing so, you completely transform and change everything that was supposed to occur in your life based off of this old data. As you transform your behavior towards these energies, you pave the way for a new journey ahead. New pattern of thoughts and actions develop to shape a new destiny.

Doing the same thing twice and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. Do we want to live our lives consumed by an insane world or re-define our neural pathways to reach our true destiny?
